Reniel-sempai

It's nice to see someone you know and have played with in the same team, won a cup for his team almost single-handedly.

Reniel was my one-year senior at Mumong/PJN Science stream and also lived at the hostel. His footballing education enhanced there, playing in tandem with the Ulu Belait people where the only way to get the ball is to get it yourself (the people never pass a teammate there, seriously). He also starred in a few games for our team, Junior MetroStars FC.

Our usual game mode in the hostel was shooting outside the box for a goal in an area using half the pitch - meaning the keeper is neutral. As a result, a lot of PJN hostelers have terrific power shots and the keepers are very agile (I only developed my passing game but I score the occasional full/half-volley and overheads).

Reniel moved on to Nursing School after a brief stint at Sayyidina Ali with his long-time companion Jusmen. He left as a very popular footballing superstar, who had ability in all aspects of the game (can even play as a keeper), and revered by even the baddest hosteler.

Last thing I heard about him before this is his role as a star striker for a B-League team based in Tutong (can't remember which) but... hey, Man-of-the-Match for a cup final is quite awesome.

But not so surprising.

D:D:D:D:D:

You know, I've lived at Hostel PJN for a whopping 7 years and there was NEVER a time when the bed broke. But for the last 3 years I've been here, the bed's been broken twice already (and last year I got a room with the bed already broken).

Sure you can say I'm 30 kilos (?) heavier than I was last time I stayed at the PJN hostel but there were other guys heavier than me and never once did they complain about broken beds.

Now, the beds in PJN are legendary. They're there ever since the hostel opened. They have a simple design but they're made of hardwood, so stable, a normal person can stand on them (even can withstand two people, and I did too).

The beds in UBD have a modern look, but they're made of softer wood and is prone to creaking and breaking from stress. Sigh. I can't sleep without fearing the moment the bed crashes down and sending me into a bump.

If this continues I'd rather import my own bed. From PJN.

You look wonderful tonight.

Which was last night, btw. A splendid evening of fun at Seasons, a week before the proper sending off of those who didn't fail.

The food was meh, sad to say because for all these years of eating with the glory of RBC, this is the once I've been disappointed.

But we all got to sing together. I just spoiled the hype with a bad upstep high note, better do more bubbling.

The girls let their hair down and looked great. I only had my pink shirt for show. .-.

Oh well, nice dinner, bon voyage~

Condolences

Steve Irwin a.k.a. Crocodile Hunter has died of a stingray attack on his heart. The world has lost a bubbly character and a great promoter of nature and wildlife. Now it is up to his children to carry on the torch, as he did from his parents.
