Picnic report :o

Yay BJFA-UBD Picnic at the weekend! Mind you, just for this event I didn't go back home to watch Man U v Liverpool - and look what happened T___T

I woke up at around 5, just to burn off some more CDs, but then I got sleepy again and slept till 8. After I messaged Oxba to tell me when's he coming to fetch me from hostel, I too the morning shower.

After changing, I packed extra clothing, a towel and my CD holder on one of my bags and got out. Saw Menglong at the entrance, then I asked him to wait near the canteen (which by then Oxba had arrived). Funny seeing him in casual clothes - it's the first time I did!

Finally we came to the Berakas Forestry, the default picnic place (I guess, looking at the hordes of people who came) around BSB. Reaching the end of the steep road, at the beachfront, the Hostel Resco were at the other side (we already knew they were also gonna be picnicking at the same date) that overlooked the beach. Some Filipinos were near our site blasting their music so I wanted to remedy it with my own radio - since I gotten to be like the one in charge for music - so I asked April for the batteries I asked her to get. What, you didn't? :x And there comes the "message someone that hasn't come to ask them to buy" side-story that lasted till 11 when Hime-sama came.

Foodstalls were setting up around us - it's a shame I didn't bring my money. The fire took 2 and a half hours to fully operate.

Went down to the beach, past a few familiar faces and saw Niza-chan digging the loveboat. Suddenly the place got warmer and the sun came out. I felt a bit woozy and left Oxba digging up his trench.

Went back and did a bit of helping here and there - I was always the one handling the cool drinks section so I specialised on that (those who know me since back at SMPJN would recall that for 3 years straight I skipped the annual school cross-country race by working with the drinks distribution at the finish line). My head started to kill me, it wasn't a fever but I knew it won't make me feel good. Fortunately Oxba brought some Panadol so I took that, thanks a lot, man.

What about the people there? The attendees reached 40, which was above the target. Even Minako-sensei came so the place was lively. The main man, Kaichou, started a few fun games - some people were constantly cooking and got sunburnt because of it (and in the end there were still uncooked chicken) but yea, I'd say the picnic was a success.

Except the music. For one thing, they expected me to bring either something other than anime songs or something not even Japanese. The batteries came with Hime-sama but there was another radio blasting out Menglong's CD. Some of them brought along their guitars (a pair of them, good ones indeed) so that spelt the end of my radio and my job. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em, so I played the guitar myself. Heh, there's the music for ya.

Lunch was served at midday and the food was okay. Dango, potato chips, sausages, chicken, tuna corn sandwich, salmon onigiri (arigatou sensei, oishikatta yo~), vanilla cocktail, cheese tart, cake, lolipop, ...yea.

Then it's "(Don't) Do That Friggin Kung-Fu Stance" conducted by David-sensei, the kendo teacher who also came. Oxba and Iletia did a great job with that, haha. I do think that the better you are at this game, the less obedient you are in obeying orders XD

I was close to being kaput by that time, so I popped in another Panadol. After a long interval of inactivity and chatter and stuff, the people went off to the beach at 3. It was so friggin hot... so a few stayed behind (to finish up the food and drinks) until it was cooler and the number of people who remained was like... the 4 of us who were playing cards?

Oh yea I practically pwned everyone at Big 2 'till the end, maybe I only had 2 losses out of about 20 games. Maybe all the years of experience helped me in that :x yep, Big 2 is a strategy game, know it or not.

The sky got cloudy, the day began to end, the people started to leave and effectively, the only thing left to do was to tidy up and pack. So I did just that, saw a few wet people, took a few unfinished foodstuffs and waited till everyone went home. Moonshiner brought me back to the hostel along with Menglong. That jalopy we rode on is t3h ancient, man.

As what I said, it was a fun day and one to remember. Met and knew some people I would have ignored, saw a few things I haven't, and even though the lack of my music pluggage and my health was a personal downer, laying down my cards successfully in triumph does kinda make it enjoyable.

As a footnote, before I left I looked at the beautiful sea once again - somehow the things I fear, the tasks that were poking me on the butt, the work I have to endure, the wrath of the people wanting my neck, they were all gone, as I feel the sea breeze and gaze at the blue water and the azure sky.

When I turned away from it, in a way that I already knew it was coming, they all came back.
